“I feel like the training is quite focussed on thinking outside the box, which is really helpful to get facilitators in the mindset that many of the girls might be in. Young people are great at thinking unconventionally and Free2b really lends itself to their style.”

“The training made the thought of engaging with teenage girls a lot less daunting....rather than focussing on all of the ‘troubles ‘ of our youth, the training took us to a place where it was focused more on the girls themselves, the roles they naturally play, or find in an environment where there is no expectation from them other than kindness and respect for people and place. This to me made more sense rather than the other method (troubled youth focused method) that I’ve witnessed time again, with no real meaningful results. Using the Free2be approach it was a lot easier to create real relationships with the girls, rather than forced relationships aimed to complete tasks so that adult boxes can be ticked. The only box that I realised was being ticked with my girls was when they rocked up to the next session with excitement and motivation in their eyes..... just to be free......and to see what happens....
Thank you for this new natural insight and the reminder of how being a young teenage girl, that’s given freedom in a safe environment can THRIVE!

“The Free2b Girls training and approach has helped me in both my personal and professional life. I often refer to the Free2b Manual when facilitating in other roles I undertake, as it has many valuable lessons around working with young people in a genuine way. Tani has served as a mentor, both in my personal life and professional life. Her support is incredible, truly going above and beyond with weekly calls to debrief, discuss and celebrate our group. Tani is so invested in each individual group and their communities.”

“As to the Free2b girls training- I loved it! The Free2b girls concept isn't based on a set methodology- it's more to do with caring about young people and being flexible around their needs- and the training reflected that. The importance of individual skills and personalities of volunteers was emphasised- and the written information provided was based on actual experience with the girls.”
